Dr. Zhijian Liu is a leading expert in the field of orthodontics, currently working at the Department of Orthodontics, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, China. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry (1997-2002) and Master’s degree in Orthodontics (2002-2005) from Wuhan University, and completed his PhD at the University of Hong Kong (2005-2009). His research interests include the function and aesthetics of the masticatory system, evaluation of orthodontic treatment outcomes, and mechanisms of craniofacial cell transduction. Currently, he is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (2013-2015) to investigate the role of Gαi2 signaling pathways in masticatory transformation.

Dr. Liu has published numerous significant research papers, such as studies on the impact of malocclusion on quality of life published in the Angle Orthodontist journal (2009), and changes in oral health-related quality of life during fixed orthodontic treatment in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (2011). He has also researched MicroRNA-101-3p in salivary gland cancer and the effects of TNF-α on cementoblast cells. Recent works include comparisons between digital and traditional impression accuracy and applications of nano materials in orthodontics. With substantial and diverse contributions to the field, Dr. Liu stands out as a prominent figure in orthodontic research and dentistry.

Self-ligating ceramic braces are a noteworthy advancement in orthodontic therapy. They provide patients with a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing method of getting a straighter smile by skillfully combining efficiency and aesthetics. With the development of orthodontic technology, patients of all ages can now start their road toward better dental health and self-confidence with greater ease than ever. To achieve the good results, we need to understand and how to effectively utilize its features and functions. Recommendations on how to use this innovative appliance are then given on each stage of orthodontic treatments. Participants will be given tips and tricks on how to be more efficient and how to transition to this new system. Lastly, showcase of cases treated with ceramic self-ligating and its details on how to finish cases.

Dr. Vo Van Nhan graduated with an excellent Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1997 and earned a Master of Science in Dentistry from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2002. He completed a PhD in Dentistry in 2015 and a Master Implant degree from UCLA in 2012. Dr. Vo Van Nhan is a pioneer in advanced techniques for severe bone resorption as 3D autogenous bone augmentation, alveolar bone grafting and implant placement for cleft lip and palate patients. He has been invited to speak at conferences globally, including in France, Italy, and Hong Kong. With numerous publications in international and national journals, he currently heads the Implantology Department at Hong Bang International University. His innovative contributions and leadership in dental surgery and implantology have established him as a leading expert in his field.

Edentulism is often accompanied by severe jawbone atrophy, leading to a low maxillary sinus and the mandibular jawbone being close to the inferior alveolar nerve. According to Schropp’s study in 2003, up to 50% of the alveolar bone plate is resorbed within 6 to 12 months after tooth extraction. These challenges make full-mouth implant restoration difficult, as conventional methods like bone grafting and short implants are often inadequate. Modern dentistry has introduced techniques such as the All-on-X, trans-sinus implants, pterygoid implants, zygomatic implants, and customized implants. Furthermore, the advent of digital technology has enhanced implant surgery, enabling greater precision, less invasiveness, and optimal aesthetics. This allows for immediate loading post-surgery, enabling patients to receive teeth the same day and reducing both adjustment and treatment times compared to traditional methods. In this report, we introduce optimal solutions such as the All-on-X, trans-sinus implants, pterygoid implants, zygomatic implants, and customized implants, along with clinical cases, advantages and disadvantages, and treatment indications for maxillary edentulous restoration in the digital technology era.

Dr. Pham Hoai Nam graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in 1994. He obtained his Master’s degree in Periodontology from the International Medical College (IMC) in Germany, in 2016. In 2018, he was certified as a Clinical Specialist in Implantology by the gIDE Institute and Loma Linda University in the United States. Currently, Dr. Hoai Nam is a lecturer and Head of the Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry at Van Lang University. He also specializes in periodontics and implant surgery in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dentistry today aims for perfect treatment results in both functional and aesthetic aspects. Soft tissue grafting is increasingly being applied to improve aesthetics and maintain long-term results of periodontal and peri-implant tissues.
Autologous connective tissue, although recognized as the gold standard in soft tissue augmentations, is not the optimal choice for all clinical cases due to limited material resources and the need for additional surgical areas and increased trauma for patients. Connective tissue subtitutes materials, therefore are being indicated in specific cases, providing optimal results for treatment.
The presentation will update and analyze the characteristics of soft tissue grafting materials around teeth and implants that are currently being researched and applied in practice. Indications and surgical techniques for each type of material will also be recommended and illustrated with images of specific clinical cases.

Doctor Hai graduated as a Medical doctor at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2008 and continuely graduated as a Doctor of dental surgery at Hanoi Medical University in 2010. After that, in 2016 he received the PhD degree of dentistry at Okayama University, Japan and completed the Postdoc program at the National Institutes of Health, USA in 2019.
He now holds the position of Vice Dean of Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Head of Postgraduate Training&Management Office, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, also as a member of the executive committee of Hai Phong Odonto – Stomatology Association. Beside he is the Study club coordinator of ITI Vietnam Section, Director of study Club ITI Hai Phong

Digital protocol are widely used in modern dental practice. It makes diagnosis and treatment in dentistry, especially in implantology simpler and more accurate than ever. However, not every clinical case can apply a comprehensive digitalization process for different reasons such as limited mouth opening, sensitivity to foreign objects, and unexpected clinical situations, or the limitation of equipment, human resources and particular in investing in synchronization of equipment for different implant brands. This report will introduce flexible applications that help simplify the digitalization protocol in clinical situations from single implant to full arch treatment.

Graduating from the Faculty of Dental Surgery at Paris Descartes in 2010, my focus shifted toward surgery and implantology. Proficiency in autogenous bone grafts for pre implant procedures was acquired through various private training sessions. Rediscovering the discipline during an endodontics conference, the advancements in techniques and materials captivated me, leading to a deeper exploration of the subject while maintaining a surgical practice. Specialization in endodontics was achieved through experiences like the extended endodontics training module by the French Endodontic Society and the Endo Advanced class by Indo Academie. For the past 2 years, I have been invited by Komet France to train practictioners in endodontics (Endotours). Additionally, I serve as the president of an association providing training for practitioners in the Yvelines region (ACOSY-FC).

Throughout this concise conference, our primary focus will be on comprehensively reviewing the sequential steps required to successfully perform endodontic surgery in relation to a specific clinical case. We aim to equip you with invaluable advice that will facilitate a calm and methodical approach to this procedure. The key stages we will cover include the initial diagnosis and decision-making process, followed by the precise techniques involved in creating incisions and flaps. Additionally, we will delve into the intricacies of osteotomy and apical resection, as well as the meticulous preparation and retro obturation techniques.
Finally, we will discuss the importance of suturing and provide post-operative advice to ensure optimal patient care. By the end of this session, you will possess the necessary knowledge and skills to confidently plan and execute endodontic surgery within your dental office.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc is currently a lecturer in the Department of Periodontology – Implantology, Faculty of Dentistry, Van Lang University at Ho chi Minh City. He graduated with a Doctor Dental Surgery Degree in 2014 and earned PhD in 2022 from University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, he has a global perspective on implantology, having completed specialized training programs in various countries and earned multiple certifications, including: Certificate of Advanced bone and soft tissue regeneration techniques in implant therapy from Urban Regeneration Institute, Hungary, Certificate of Advanced nasal-zygomatic-pterygoid implant workshop from Noris Academy, India, Certificate of Digital Implant from Dio Digital Academy and New York University, Certificate of Advanced soft tissue surgery from Zucchelli Institute, Italy. Additionally, he has been a regular speaker at major domestic dental conferences like VIDEC 2023 and HAIDEC 2024.

In patients with periodontitis, the boundary between conservative treatment for tooth remaing and tooth extraction for implant placement is sometimes very difficult to determine. Such cases often make doctors confused in giving appropriate indications and treatment methods. Giving the right indications, thereby planning the correct time and methods will help achieve long-term success, and ultimately bring benefits to the patient.
For that reason, this presentation will help dentists give the right indications and treatment methods when standing at the boundary between conservative and implant treatment in periodontitis patients.

Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Phu Thang, D.D.S., Ph.D., works as a specialist in Implantology at the School of Dentistry, Hanoi Medical University, and Head of the Oral Surgery Department, School of Dentistry, Hanoi Medical University. He graduated as Doctor of Dental Surgery at Hanoi Medical University, received his Ph.D. in Dentistry in 2013, and was appointed as an Associate Professor in 2018. He is a senior lecturer at the School of Dentistry. He also received the French-Vietnamese Inter-University Diploma in Oral Surgery, French-Vietnamese Inter-University Diploma in High Technology in Dentistry, a Certificate in Peri-implant Soft Tissue Treatment in the USA, and certificates in Advanced Implantology in Europe and Korea. He published a series of textbooks in oral and implant surgery for the graduate training program.

The timing of implant placement in post-extraction sites includes immediate implant, early implant, and late implant placement. Immediate placement of implants in the esthetic zone has been an accepted procedure since it was first reported in 1989. Immediate implant placement in molar sockets has also been presented as a successful alternative to the delayed protocol with many advantages such as reducing the number of surgical procedures, resulting in shorter treatment times, less invasiveness of surgical interventions, alveolar ridge preservation, maintaining and preserving maximum aesthetics, and no complicated bone graft. Immediate implant placement in the posterior region differs from the esthetic zone for several reasons, mainly due to anatomical differences. The large diameter of the socket leads to difficulty in proper implant positioning, achievement of primary stability, and primary wound closure. With the development of digital dentistry, the surgeon can virtually place the implant ideally using a surgical guide. The Dual-zone Technique of S.J. Chu and atraumatic extraction have been shown to be effective in alveolar ridge preservation, increasing the thickness of soft tissue around the implant, and helping long-term implant survival. Additionally, the Sealing Socket Abutment (SSA) technique helps seal the surgical area, protect the bone grafting material from oral cavity exposure, prevent infection, and maintain physiological soft tissue volume.
